i am julie....

"today we pledge allegiance to moving. to running alone, to running marathons, and to running wild. to running like your life depends on it, and knowing that it does."

i thought i'd better get my thoughts down while they are still pretty fresh in my mind, and now that my head has cleared up a little. tonight my head has finally stopped spinning .Yesterday and today i had some classic dehydration symptoms, but tonight i'm feeling a lot better.

woke up saturday morning to pouring down rain! not exactly fabulous marathon conditions, but there isn't anything i can do about the weather so i grabbed a poncho and headed out the door.
game on.....
luckily, before the gun went off the rain had stopped,
until around mile 14 when it started up again:(
i'd been super nervous about this race in the days leading up to it.
once i got to the start line my fears evaporated
i knew why i was there.
"champions aren't made in gyms. champions are made from something they have deep inside them, a desire, a dream, a vision. they have to have the skill and the will. but the will must be stronger than the skill.

i know i'm never going to be a champion in the eyes of anyone else
and that's ok
because
in my mind i win every time:)
i win because it's my story i'm writing.
remember that the music is not in the guitar....
it's in us
we have to learn how to make our own music.

this is my music.
i run to find that little piece of me that's
 my own story....
it's going to be different than yours and that's ok
because
you're not me and i'm not you.
sorry, but you have to find your own music:)
running allows me to connect with that place deep down inside
i don't get to very often.
no one can help me through it
it's one of those things i have to do on my own.
saturday it was mile marker 23
that defined me.
mentally done....
i walked for a minute trying to shake it off.
we need those defining moments
they make us stronger.
i can do hard things.
and no one can ever take those moments away from me.
"two roads diverged in a wood,
and i.....
i took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference."
robert frost

it might not be your path
but it's mine....
i am julie.
